Copperhead Road Logging & Lumber underwent the certification process along with other wood-based businesses in Aitkin County in 1997, when Aitkin County public lands became certified. We maintain chain-of-custody documentation on lumber from trees cut on Aitkin County public land.
Aitkin County, Minnesota has 54% of its total area in public lands. Some of these are owned by the county, and some by the State of Minnesota. County lands are administered by the Aitkin County Land Department. State property is managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Since 1997, both county and state land in Aitkin County has been certified as sustainably managed by the SmartWood program.
